General COVID-19 rules – for Riders, Volunteers & Staff

These coronavirus safety procedures and precautions follow the rules and guidelines set by KFL&A Public Health and other health authorities. Even if a person is fully vaccinated, with the COVID-19 Delta variant, there is still a risk of transmitting the virus. Please read and follow these protocols at all times – for your health and others.

  • Practice physical distancing: Keep at least 2 meters (6 feet) apart from others who are outside your household or “bubble."

  • Wear a mask: Every rider, volunteer, and other persons who enters an indoor establishment in the KFL&A region is required to wear a face covering while inside. Outdoors, in an established event zone, masks are highly recommended, especially when physical distancing is not maintained. All volunteers for this event will wear masks when setting up and while working within 2 meters of participants. Riders are encouraged to wear masks when interacting with others off the bike.

  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often – AND before and after handling non-personal objects: Use soap and water to wash hands for 15-20 seconds and/or alcohol-based hand rub (let stay on for at least 15 seconds).

  • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your arm or cover your nose and mouth with a tissue: Tissues and lined garbage bins will be provided for their disposal.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth: The coronavirus can be transmitted from hands to the mucus areas on your face.

  • Registered participants have their registration “ticket” from Eventbrite, printed or on mobile phone with

  • Riders are encouraged to leave their bicycles at their cars or use one of the tri-racks available for the check-in process.

  • After pre-ride check-in, riders will please wait to be sent off in a group or groups according to route distance choice. Please maintain physical distancing before you start.

En Route & Rest Stops

  • Riders in motion are asked to maintain at least 2 meters (1 bike+1/2 wheel) from rider in front of you (no close drafting) and when passing another rider, except in cases where riders are in same household/bubble. Masks are NOT recommended while riding.

  • At rest stops, riders are asked to maintain physical distancing and move from the table after picking up food and water (food and water will be packaged individually for pick up). Volunteers will wear masks while working rest stops and also wear gloves when setting out items on tables. First aid kits and floor-pumps will be available at stops, as well as hand sanitizer.

  • Tables at stops will be cleaned and sanitized, along with other shared use items (e.g., pump, water jugs) periodontally.

  • A SAG vehicle (contact 613-329-8279) will be overseeing the route and driver will be masked when interacting with riders and others. Riders are strongly encouraged to have their own spare inner-tube and tools to repair a puncture. If help with repairs or transport is needed, sanitizer will be used before and after handling of bikes/equipment. Riders transported will be asked to wear masks.

Post-Ride Check-In and Prizes

  • After completing the route, riders must check-in with a volunteer at the start/end location to be checked off as finished.

  • If for whatever reason you are not able to complete the route, please call or text the SAG (613-329-8279) for a pick-up. • Riders are encouraged to stay around the end point, respecting physical distancing, until the next rider or group of riders finish to welcome them back. There will be no closing remarks or other activities post-ride.
